  • Hoods Point CME Church is defunct. It is currently fenced inside the property belonging to the descendants of the late Mr. William Ainsworth. The church was established by William Oneal ("Black Papa") and his wife Angeline (nee Woodson) Oneal ("White Mama") in the early 1900s. The church was in operation as of the late 1960s. It's now destroyed piano was donated by the late Dorothy (nee Hardaway) Hopkins around the church's demise. Near the vacant church sits its parsonage and outhouse. The school house no longer stands, according to Homa Jean (nee Hardaway) Gordon, who was an attendant and resident of the Hoods Point community in her youth before removing to Luling and then Austin, Texas. The Hoods Point Cemetery is now known as Randle Cemetery.
